I thought the narrative was very touching heart-warming. While reading the narrative, I felt the joy Helen felt when she learned new words.
2. What was most interesting or engaging about it?
The most interesting thing about the poem was the detail. The deatil really made me imagine what it was like for Helen sitting out on her front porch waiting for something exciting to happen.
3. What surprised you?
What surprised me about this poem was how Helen learned the names for different objects, like dolls. I was also surprised with the imagery in the poem.
4. Did this change your outlook on Helen Keller at all? Why or why not?
Yes, my outlook changed after reading this poem. I now understand Helen Kellers tragidy a little bit more, forcing me to feel more empathetic.
5. Copy and paste three examples of vivid detail and imagery that helped enhance the story
1. The afternoon sun penetrated the mass of honeysuckle that covered the porch, and fell on my upturned face.
2.Anger and bitterness had preyed upon me continually for weeks and a deep languor had succeeded this passionate struggle.
3.Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen?
6. How can a narrative be more engaging than something like a biography? Why is it important to get someone's personal perspective?
I think a narrative is more engaging than a biography because when i read a narrative, I can feel their point of view and see what they were seeing, which gives me a better understanding of the situation. I think it's important to get someone's personal perspective because when you understand how they saw the situation, only then can you really understand the situation.
7. Make a bulltted lists of some things you could write a narrative about
- playing in a championship game.
- competing in a competition.
- first time meeting someone.
- learning how to surf
