1. What are the strengths of your partner’s essay? Why?
My partner's essay had many moments that were very descriptive.
2. What areas could use improvements? In other words, what suggestions can you give
your partner that will help his/her paper improve?
His sentences were mixed up at times, but i generally understood what he was saying.
3. What is your favorite literary device used in your partner’s essay?
I enjoyed the metaphors in my partners essay.
4. What is the part of the paper that stands out as the most "catchy" or important?
The most catchy part about my partners essay was how he described the scence with the dam and how how descriptive he was when talking about his fishing expirence.

Senior comp narrative answers

  • Does my narrative involve the reader? Yes, my narrative involves the reader. I tried to make as many similies that help the readers really understand what i was seeing at the time.
  • relates events in sequence? Yes, my story stays in order from the beginning to the end. i always always try to set up an image in the readers head of where i am at.
  • includes detailed observations of people, places, and events? My story includes some detail about people, places and events.
  • presents important changes, contrasts, or conflicts and creates tension? In my narrative, i try to create contrasts, and conflicts with me during the battle and the food fight at Denny's.
  •  is told from a point of view--usually the author's point of view? My story is diffidently told from my point of view.
  • focuses on connection between past events, people, or places and the present? My narrative connects the past and present together because at the end, it shows a lesson i learned throughout the process the battle.
  • makes a point, communicates a main idea or dominant impression? The narrative doesn't really communicate a main idea, it's just a time in my life enjoyed instead of a life lesson.

hellen keller blog

1. What did you think of this narrative?
I thought the narrative was very touching heart-warming. While reading the narrative, I felt the joy Helen felt when she learned new words.
2. What was most interesting or engaging about it?
The most interesting thing about the poem was the detail. The deatil really made me imagine what it was like for Helen sitting out on her front porch waiting for something exciting to happen.
3. What surprised you?
What surprised me about this poem was how Helen learned the names for different objects, like dolls. I was also surprised with the imagery in the poem.
4. Did this change your outlook on Helen Keller at all? Why or why not?
Yes, my outlook changed after reading this poem. I now understand Helen Kellers tragidy a little bit more, forcing me to feel more empathetic.
5. Copy and paste three examples of vivid detail and imagery that helped enhance the story
1. The afternoon sun penetrated the mass of honeysuckle that covered the porch, and fell on my upturned face.
2.Anger and bitterness had preyed upon me continually for weeks and a deep languor had succeeded this passionate struggle.
3.Have you ever been at sea in a dense fog, when it seemed as if a tangible white darkness shut you in, and the great ship, tense and anxious, groped her way toward the shore with plummet and sounding-line, and you waited with beating heart for something to happen?
6. How can a narrative be more engaging than something like a biography? Why is it important to get someone's personal perspective?
I think a narrative is more engaging than a biography because when i read a narrative, I can feel their point of view and see what they were seeing, which gives me a better understanding of the situation. I think it's important to get someone's personal perspective because when you understand how they saw the situation, only then can you really understand the situation.

Do you enjoy English classes?  Why or why not?
Yes, I enjoy english class because of the interesting activities and i enjoy writing.

What type of writing do you enjoy? 
I enjoy lists, letters, and jokes

What types of things do you like to read?
I like to read song lyrics, comic strips, and jokes.


I am from broken boom boxes and hundreads of CDs.
Unforgiving dance floors that leave bruises in places I wasn't even dancing on.
I am from torn up Puma's and soaked Adidas sweat shirts.

I am from frozen dinners taken to the bedroom quitely to be sure not to wake up mom,
and charcoaled chicken on holidays due to mom's bad cooking.
I am from "whatever you take, you eat!"
regardless of how bad it tastes.

I am from falling countless hours on the blacktop trying to learn how to crossover.
From forcing my mom to watch every Boston Celtics game.
I am from dedication and committment towards self progress.
From where good isn't good enough.

I am from a single mother sturggling to pay bills,
to me having a job, now paying bills
i am from learning about responsibilty to finally being responsible.
